Tavern on the Green is hosting a special wine dinner next Tuesday, May 20, featuring the regions of Chablis, Burgundy & Beaujolais. Maison Louis Latour, one of the world's most prestigious and prodigious family-owned producers of fine wines, will be poured alongside a French inspired five course menu.

Two additional wines reflecting the Best of Burgundy will be poured, one during the pre-dinner reception and another during the informal discussion with Timothy Cousins and Andy Fruzelli of Louis Latour following the meal.

Snitch is Closing - Closing Party May 2

Friday, May 2nd, 2008
Snitch Closing Party
After running its course, rockin' the flatiron district's busy W. 21st St. for 4 years, Snitch is closing its doors.
The Chelsea bar with a rock-and-roll vibe has played host to Metallica, Anthrax, Hoobastank, Smashing Pumpkins, the Donnas, Marilyn Manson, Alice In Chains, and countless rockers, both known and unknown, b's, wannabes and never will bes. Scott Weiland, Duff McKagan and Fuel vocalist Brett Scallions were investors at one point early in the bar's life. You never knew who might stop by or pop onto the stage.
So Snitch invites you to
"Gather up all of your friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, lovers, ex-lovers (no fighting) and help us send this *infamous* Den of Sin down in history!"

New Bar: Bourbon Street Opens on Restaurant Row
While bar hopping with by friends Tim & Darren, I popped in to the brand new Bourbon Street Bar & Grille Friday night. You have to see the place. It is a beautiful bar & restaurant, and is sure to be a hit with both New Yorkers and tourists alike.
Owners Tony Doyle & Brian Connell, of The House of Brews, were there to greet the crowd who were on hand to help inaugurate the new bar. Brian gave us a grand tour of the place, which includes balcony seating overlooking Restaurant Row; a long mahogany bar in the main room, with high ceilings and Bourbon Street gaslights; and a comfortable lounge area in the back of the main floor (which used to house Danny's Skylight Room). The skylight has been replaced with a solid roof, so that the upstairs bar will have a backyard patio for outdoor drinking (pending approval). The upstairs bar & dining area overlooks the main floor, with wrought iron railing adding to the Bourbon Street motif.

Brian then showed us the spacious kitchen and introduced us to Executive Chef Tommy Hines, up from Louisiana to provide the authentic New Orleans menu. Unfortunately, the kitchen was already closing up by the time I got there, so I did not get a chance to sample the food (yet).
But I plan to be back.
Since we were in a New Orleans mood, Tim & I ended the night up at The Big Easy, where our friend Terry was hosting his monthly Zodiac Party.
