East Village live music venue Banjo Jim's is closing. After a 2 week reprieve, Monday August 15th is now scheduled to be the last night. The bar, named for the late Banjo Jim Croce, opened in 2005 in the space formerly known as Bar Code, 9C, Redbar & Clubhouse. Proprietor Lisa Zwier-Croce named the space in tribute to her husband, and the venue became known as a home to bluegrass music in NYC.

During the final days, musicians have been showing up for impromptu sessions. The great East Village blog EV Grieve reports that in its place, a new artisanal cocktail bar will be opened by Robert Ceraso, formerly of The Blue Seats.

The Saw Doctors 20th Anniversary US Tour
