2010: A New Odyssey. New Year's Eve at Vudu

#6 in our month-long series highlighting the best New Year's Eve parties in NYC...

Thursday December 31, 2009
David Shapiro presents...
2010: A New Odyssey
New Year's Eve at Vudu

Journey to the next Decade. Goodbye 2009 and the noughties.
Welcome the next decade at the Vudu Lounge. The biggest question is:
What will you do at the Vudu?

Seven hours of Top-Shelf Open Bar: 9pm - 4am
After watching the ball drop and sipping the midnight champagne,
enjoy a sophisticated Continental breakfast as your first meal of the new year.

Dance your way into 2010 with Valerie Gurka & the Pop Rocks, New York's best live party band, playing all of your favorites from the '80s, and '90s, as well as current hits.

Between band sets, a top NYC DJ spinning the hottest club hits to keep the party going all night

Ball Droppin Bottle Poppin!
Watch the ball drop on both a plasma and projection screens. At midnight enjoy the champagne toast, then afterwords taste the delicious continental breakfast that is provided to you.

Only 275 tickets are available for this exclusive event. This is the perfect party size: not too big and not too small. The atmosphere will be both intimate and festive. With just 275 guests, we can guarantee prompt admission and responsive bar service.

(David promises to exercise discretion as to whom he sells tickets to and limit the event only to people he feels with whom would really want to share the holiday.)

Tickets are now $85
Tickets will be increasing incrementally as the date comes.
So the earlier you buy the less expensive they will be.

Ticket includes:
7-Hour Top-Shelf Open Bar from 9pm to 4am
Live Music
DJ
Hors d'oeuvres
Champagne toast
Continental breakfast
Live ball drop on plasma and projection screens
Event photographer
V.I.P. Bottle Service available

For more information, or to ask about VIP Bottle Service, call 212-579-4844.

Because of the limited number of tickets available for this exclusive event, no refunds or transfers are allowed.
You must purchase your tickets, in advance, at DavidShapiro.net or by calling 212-579-4844.

Below is a clip about Celebrity Biography from "Nightline":

R.I.P. Liam Clancy - 1935 - 2009

Folk legend Liam Clancy passed away on Friday, Dec. 4, and was burried today in Ireland. He was the youngest and last surviving member of the singing Clancy Brothers that made their mark in the Greenwich Village folk scene in the late 1950s and early 1960s. They became nationally known after an appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1961.

Liam had a long and successful career both with his brothers and as a solo artist, and as a duo with Tommy Makem. He is regarded as one of the greatest balladeers of all-time. Below is an example, in this clip of Makem & Clancy performing "The Dutchman":

In 2008, he recorded a live performance at NYC's The Bitter End, aptly titled: Liam Clancy and Friends, Live at The Bitter End. It featured performances with Odetta, Tom Paxton, Shane MacGowan, Gemma Hayes and others.
