Happy Opening Day!
Rain has delayed the start postponed today's Yankee game at The Stadium, giving fans more time to drink in the area bars:
- Stan's Sports Bar: 863 River Ave.
- Billy's Sports Bar: 856 River Ave.
- The Yankee Tavern: 72 E. 161st St. at Gerard Ave.
While most fans will flock to the old standbys, they will be so packed that MurphGuide also recommends going slightly north to The Dugout at 880 River Ave. Another party tip: grab a beer at The Bowling Alley, where you can also check baggage not allowed in the stadium.
p.s. we miss Ted Carlock's The News Room on Gerard Ave. There was always a cool vibe there.
The Mets open the season on the road today at 4pm, so Mets fans can meet at their favorite NY Sports Bar.
