NY comic Helen Hong was very funny performing last week at MurphGuide Comedy Night.
She produces and hosts this unique comedy matchmaking event tonight...
Thursday, May 28
K-Date Comix
Laughter and matchmaking, Korean style
a raucous night of laughter and Korean-style matchmaking in a modern day Cupid's experiment.
In the Korean tradition of "booking," nightclub waiters play forceful matchmakers who literally drag strangers to different tables for impromptu meet-and-greets.
After having a drink together, the newly formed "couple" can decide to go their separate ways
or stick around and see how well their waiter has paired them.
K-Date Comix adds a hilarious spin to the custom:
after performing short sets, NYC's top comedians do the pairing instead of waiters, with running commentary adding to the fun.
The laughs and love-sparks fly as comedians try to do what Korean mothers attempt every day... hook people up!
Produced and hosted by comedian Helen Hong

Lineup includes:
Helen Hong, Michelle Buteau, Will Lee (aka Master Lee),
Becky Donohue, Ardie Fuqua

Advance tickets - $15, Day of Show tickets - $20

Comfort Zone is a special "big/little buddies" program in which each of the little buddies carries the burden of a life-changing loss. Comfort Zone Camp is the nation's largest bereavement camp.

Comfort Zone Camps are offered free of charge to children ages 7-17 who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or primary caregiver. The camps are held year-round in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Virginia, creating an environment where grieving children can have fun and break the isolation death often brings, while learning valuable coping skills for their daily lives.

Because the camps free of charge, they constantly need to raise money in order to send as many campers as possible.

$30 plus recommended donations includes a 3-hour open bar
The evening will feature campy finger food, karaoke, and possibly a few jokes from veteran camper and comedian, David Storch.
Everything about the event, from dress to attitude, will be as casual as possible.

From Weirde Girl's website:
Weirdee Girl combines retro Hollywood glamor with a side dish of geekery. Her foray into publicly shedding her clothing began a few years back at The New York School of Burlesque where she learned to shimmy, shake and peel it all off. Her style onstage is elegant, sexy and downright goofy. Watch Weirdee as she becomes a sparkling 40’s burlesque darling, dons a mustache to portray Ed Wood or slides out of a catsuit for the purrrrfect Catwoman.

Weirdee Girl and Menace host a new themed burlesque experience every 4th Tuesday at SUGAR. Located at Identity
