#9 in our month-long series of St. Patrick's Day events:
St. Patrick's Day is so huge in New York City that it takes a whole month to celebrate it, so March is St. Patrick's month in New York.
Celtic Rockers from the UK, The BibleCode Sundays kick off their U.S. St. Patrick's tour tonight at Rocky Sullivan's in Red Hook, Brooklyn. They will also be performing at Connolly's on March 20th.
According to our friend Anita Daly of Daly Communication, this 6 piece band of ‘Irish Londoners’ has been breaking festival records in the UK and Europe. The group is led by Ronan McManus, son of musician Ross McManus and brother of Elvis Costello, (Declan McManus), on vocals and guitar. This remarkable band represents both the history and the future of Irish music. The band's US debut CD 'Ghosts of Our Past' is getting airplay on WFUV.
Ronan Mc Manus says, “Our inspiration for song writing is taken from the experiences of the Irish Diasporas around the world, especially the London Irish.” Joining Ronan in the band are
Andy Nolan (ex Shane MacGowan & the Popes), Carlton Hunt (ex Bad Manners), Enda Mulloy (son of Tom from the legendary Mulloy Brothers), Joe Moran (ex All-Ireland champion) and one of the best young fiddle players in London Patrick Franklin.
Their two NYC appearances bookend a tour which also takes them to Boston on St. Patrick's Day, first appearing with Imus in the morning and then opening for Dropkick Murphys that night at The House of Blues.

The second song on their CD, Boys of Queens, was written for and dedicated as a tribute to the Firefighters of New York City. Below is a video for that song, with a story and imagery sad enough to make you cry in your Guinness:
