#16 in our month-long series of St. Patrick's Day events:
Legendary singer songwriter Finbar Furey has left his mark on the music of Ireland for more than four decades. As the lead singer and uillean pipes player for The Fureys, a group he shared with his brothers, Furey helped to guide the evolution of Ireland's traditional music. Since leaving the band to pursue a solo career in 1993, Furey has continued to attract attention with his gutsy approach to the music of the Emerald Isle. Finbar Furey will be performing songs from his new album, simply titled 'Finbar Furey', along other favorite songs of his career. The album is available on Amazon.com.
An accomplished musician, Finbar is not only an all Ireland Uillean Pipe Champion and whistle player, he is also a singer/songwriter that plays 5-string banjo, and guitar.
His current US tour has taken him to Boston, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, D.C.,, and he closes the tour in New York City with a concert at Joe's Pub tonight and an appearance at the Governor's breakfast on St. Patrick's Day morning.
