4th of July in Brooklyn

The annual Nathan's hot dog eating contest, takes place on July 4th at Nathan's in Coney Island, on Surf Ave. . According to NathansFamous.com, the contest has been held each year since 1916 (with two exceptions: 1941 and 1971). The big showdown today is a re-match with two time defending champion Joey Chestnut trying to retain his title, while six time champion Takeru Kobayashi of Japan tries to win it back.

Right down the street from Nathan's, Peggy O'Neill's will host their annual hamburger eating contest...
