Brooklyn based jazz vocalist, trombonist (and MurphGuide reader) Elizabeth Dotson-Westphalen has completed the initial recording of 11 of her original pop/jazz tunes with her band. Though pleased with the outcome so far, she still needs to add special guest artists, mix and master the recording, add cover art, have CDs duplicated, and hire someone to help her get this record in front of the eyes of wonderful people who like good music.
She is asking for help to finish this project. Having already spent a lot of her own money on recording, she is looking for assistance in finding the funds to finish it. Using the creative concept of micro-funders, through Kickstarter.com, will allow her to stay independent and make the best record possible.
If you are interested in contributing to the project, she has put together some special and creative incentives for all donors. Minimum pledge is $15, which gets you a copy of the CD as soon as it's ready. Other incentives for greater donations include:
Credit in the liner notes, she'll make a happy birthday video for you or a friend; a batch of cookies sent anywhere in the USA; a 1-hour trombone lesson in New York City (no experience necessary); a private duo concert for 20 people (or just you and your sweetie) in NYC; and if you are able to cover her entire fundraising goal by yourself, Elizabeth will follow you around with her trombone for a day in NYC, making that "sad trombone" sound and generally providing comic relief.
Pledges start at just $15. Please go to:

"What's the catch?", I just heard you say.
The catch is this: if she doesn't reach the $3,131 goal by November 30 at 3:31pm, she won't get any of the money. So feel free to spread the word. "Records are expensive, and so is promotion... but so important to an independent artist such as myself", she said, adding, "What good is a great record if no one hears it?!"
Exactly. So here is the widget, now get to it...
But wait, there's more...
