Friday, November 13
CD Release of Hurley/McCann's "The House that Horse Built"
A very special semi-acoustic appearance by NYC songwriter Joe Hurley & Friends
featuring special guest, the best-selling author Colum McCann.
The Hurley/McCann CD, "The House That Horse Built", inspired by McCann's novel "Let the Great World Spin", and previously only available in Europe, will be released this evening.
It will be performed by many of the musicians on the recording (see CD's European press release) and Hurley will also be playing a number of The Gents tunes.
Colum will read from his novel "Let The Great World Spin"
and there will also be a Q & A session, followed by CD and book signing.

Musical guests will include Kenny Margolis, Matt Sweeney, and Jon Spurney, and he will play a selection of Gents tunes as well as an acoustic version of The House that Horse Built with backing from gospel vocalists on the EP, Tami Lynn, Faith Hahn and Antonique Smith.
(Hurley & McCann recently returned from a month-long tour, playing to packed house across Europe.)
Free admission
Reserved seating available
7pm
at:
Barnes & Noble
97 Warren St. (Greenwich St.)
New York, NY

There will be an after-reading party which will be announced at the reading (you gotta be there).

From Colum McCann's website:
The songwriting collaboration of McCann & Hurley "has resulted in a glorious 12 minute epic of a song by Hurley, sprawling across the wastelands and heartbreaks of a prostitute's life in 1974 NYC.
"With Hurley on vocals and guitar, the EP features a stunning cast of musicians including Tony Shanahan (Patti Smith), James Mastro (Ian Hunter), Kenny Margolis (Cracker), Matt Sweeney (Johnny Cash, Bonnie "Prince" Billy), gospel great Tami Lynn (Stones, Dr. John, Dylan), Denis Diken (Smithereens), soul-singing film-star Antonique Smith, Faith Hahn, Joe McGinty, and 6-time Grammy winning Paddy Moloney of the legendary Chieftans.
This limited edition EP was produced by Don Fleming (Pete Yorn, Sonic Youth) and will be available for the first time in the US at the Barnes & Noble event. This EP is the first part of Hurley/McCann's recording project that will ultimately see a full-length CD of songs inspired by the novel, to be released next year.
